If you’re dreaming of a garden wedding in Charlotte, North Carolina, Larkin and Nathaniel’s wedding day at Alexander Homestead is the perfect inspiration.
On a stunning spring Saturday, March 21st, these two were married at one of Charlotte’s most loved wedding venues, surrounded by blooming gardens, soft sunshine, and the kind of relaxed, joyful energy that makes a wedding day feel effortless.
Their day was a beautiful blend of nature-inspired design, meaningful traditions, and intentional moments, everything so many of my Charlotte couples are looking for.
A Love Story That Started in Charlotte
Larkin and Nathaniel’s story began online, but their first date took place right here in Charlotte at Piedmont Social House. From that night on, everything just clicked.
For the first two and a half years, their relationship required patience and intention. With Nate in school and working full-time, they often only saw each other every week or two.
Larkin would bring him study care packages during finals week just to spend time together and support him.
It’s that steady, intentional kind of love that made their wedding day feel so grounded and genuine.
A Destination Proposal, A Charlotte Wedding
Nathaniel proposed during a trip to St. Lucia with a private treehouse dinner overlooking the water, but when it came time to choose where to get married, coming back to Charlotte felt like the obvious choice.
They wanted a venue that felt like them, outdoorsy, romantic, and surrounded by nature, and Alexander Homestead checked every box.

Why They Chose Alexander Homestead

Alexander Homestead is one of the most sought-after wedding venues in Charlotte, and it’s easy to see why.
Between the manicured gardens, the indoor-outdoor flow, and the incredible planning support from their team, it creates such a seamless experience for couples. Larkin and Nathaniel fell in love with the gardens immediately, and on a spring day in full bloom, it was even more stunning.
For couples looking for a Charlotte wedding venue that feels elevated but still relaxed and nature-forward, this space is truly special.
A Nature-Inspired Wedding Design
Inspired by their love for hiking, water, and the outdoors, their color palette featured sage green, eucalyptus, slate blue, and powder blue, paired with warm wood tones.
Florals by Mint Hill Flower Market brought everything together with organic greenery and soft, romantic textures that felt like a natural extension of the gardens at Alexander Homestead.
The entire day had that effortless “Charlotte garden wedding” feel, refined, relaxed, and beautifully intentional.
Meaningful Details That Told Their Story

One of my favorite things about this wedding was how many personal touches were woven throughout the day.
Their cake was a family “Summer Cake” recipe passed down through generations, topped with Larkin’s grandmother’s cake topper. Her bouquet was wrapped in fabric from her great grandmother’s dress, something her sister also did on her wedding day.
Their table numbers featured baby photos of each of them, and they even created a signature drink inspired by their dog.
These are the kinds of details that make a wedding feel like you, not just a pretty day, but a meaningful one.
A Ceremony Rooted in Family
Their outdoor ceremony took place in the gardens, surrounded by their closest people.
Nathaniel’s father officiated, which made the ceremony even more personal and emotional. The music was inspired by video games, a fun and meaningful nod to something they both love.
And when Larkin walked down the aisle, it was one of those moments you never forget.
Timeless Style with a Personal Touch
Larkin wore a champagne-colored gown with off-the-shoulder detailing and intricate floral embroidery in soft peach and green tones, perfectly tying into the natural setting.
Her veil mirrored those details, and her jewelry, including a bracelet made by her cousin, added such a meaningful touch.
Nathaniel wore a navy suit with brown leather suspenders and a sage green bow tie, with monogrammed details that made it uniquely his.
The bridesmaids wore eucalyptus and sage-toned dresses they selected themselves, creating a cohesive yet effortless look that so many of my Charlotte brides are loving right now.
Golden Hour at Alexander Homestead
Golden hour at Alexander Homestead is always something special, and this day was no exception.
The light filtered through the trees perfectly, creating that soft, glowy look every couple hopes for. It’s one of the reasons I love photographing weddings in Charlotte, especially at venues like this where nature does so much of the work for you.
A Celebration Full of Joy
With music by All the Right Grooves, the reception was full of energy from start to finish. The dance floor stayed packed, the toasts were heartfelt, and every guest was fully present in celebrating Larkin and Nathaniel.
It was one of those Charlotte wedding days where you can feel just how loved the couple is.
Mr. & Mrs. Martin
Larkin Rogers became Larkin Martin, and it fits her so beautifully.
Their wedding day at Alexander Homestead was everything a Charlotte garden wedding should be, intentional, joyful, and deeply personal.
Larkin and Nathaniel, it was such an honor to capture your day. Your story is something truly special, and I know this is just the beginning.
