There is something incredibly special about documenting a family in the quiet, love-filled days after welcoming a new baby — and Tyler and Veronica’s in-home newborn session was exactly that.
They recently welcomed their sweet baby boy, Aven, and their home was already filled with the kind of calm, joyful energy that only comes with those first days together. From soft window light to slow snuggles on the couch, this session was all about preserving what real life looks like right now — tender, imperfect, and deeply meaningful.
A Nursery Made for Adventure
Aven’s nursery was thoughtfully designed with an explore + travel theme, filled with baby blue tones, soft textures, and intentional details that reflected Tyler and Veronica’s love for adventure and the world around them. It felt playful yet timeless — the perfect backdrop for documenting this new chapter.
We spent time in the nursery capturing the tiny details that change so quickly: his little hands, sleepy stretches, and the way his parents naturally settled into holding him.
A Family Affair (Including Nova 🐾)
Of course, no session would be complete without their girl dog, Nova, who made sure to stay close by. Including pets during in-home newborn sessions always adds another layer of authenticity — they’re part of the family too, after all.
The session felt relaxed and baby-led, allowing plenty of breaks, feedings, and moments to simply be together. That’s the beauty of in-home newborn photography — no rushing, no pressure, just space to slow down and soak it all in.
Why In-Home Newborn Sessions Are So Meaningful
These sessions aren’t about perfectly styled poses — they’re about connection. About documenting how it felt to bring your baby home. The way your home looked in that season. The way your arms instinctively held your newborn close.
Even though Tyler and Veronica live in Michigan, this session reflects exactly how I approach in-home newborn sessions for families in the Charlotte, North Carolina area — natural light, gentle direction, and storytelling that feels honest and timeless.
A Personal Note
Tyler and Veronica are my brother and sister-in-law, which made this session especially meaningful to me. Being able to document such an important season for my own family is something I’ll always treasure — and it’s a reminder of why I care so deeply about preserving these moments for every family I work with.
Baby Aven is already so loved, and it was an honor to capture his first days earthside.
