Roscoe & Amanda | Romare Bearden Park Proposal | Charlotte NC
Some proposals take months of planning. Some happen on a sunny Sunday morning in the middle of a weekend trip. Roscoe and Amanda came to Charlotte for a concert, and Amanda had no idea that before the weekend was over, Roscoe would be down on one knee in front of a set of giant MARRY ME letters in Romare Bearden Park. It was a total surprise, and it was one of my favorite Uptown Charlotte proposals yet.

A Surprise Proposal in Uptown Charlotte
Roscoe wanted something big and unmistakable, but he also needed it to stay a secret from Amanda while they were visiting from out of town. We set the proposal for 11am on Sunday, when the park is calm, the light is bright and the waterfall wall is glowing.
While the two of them were out enjoying their morning, we set up extra-large MARRY ME marquee letters right in front of the waterfall, with the Uptown Charlotte skyline rising behind it. All Roscoe had to do was walk Amanda through the park, and the setup did the rest.

The Proposal Setup: Marquee Letters, a Waterfall and the City Skyline
If you're looking for Charlotte proposal ideas with a real city feel, this spot is hard to beat. The waterfall wall gives you a clean, modern backdrop, the trees add a pop of green, and the glass towers of Uptown frame everything from above. Paired with oversized marquee letters, it reads instantly in photos, from the wide skyline shots right down to the close-ups.

The Moment She Said Yes
As soon as Amanda saw the letters, she knew. Roscoe dropped to one knee right in front of the waterfall, Amanda covered her face, and then came the YES. The kisses, the hugs, Roscoe lifting her off her feet in front of the skyline: every bit of it was pure joy, and I was so happy to be there to capture it.

And of course, we had to get the ring shot, with Uptown glowing behind it.

Roscoe and Amanda, congratulations! Thank you for trusting me with such a special part of your Charlotte weekend. I can't wait to see what's next for you two.
Planning a Proposal at Romare Bearden Park?
Romare Bearden Park is one of the best proposal spots in Charlotte, especially for couples who want a city backdrop. It sits in the heart of Uptown, so it's easy to work into a weekend of dinner, a game or a show, just like Roscoe and Amanda did with their concert. Here are a few tips from behind the camera:
Go in the morning. A Sunday or weekday morning is quieter than an afternoon or evening, and you get bright, clear light on the waterfall and skyline.
Make it unmistakable. Large marquee letters or a full décor setup turn a public park into your own private moment, and they look incredible in photos.
Have a plan B. Charlotte weather can change fast. If rain is in the forecast, we can move the date or switch to a covered Uptown location.
Book as early as you can. Booking ahead gives you the most options for décor and timing, but don't count yourself out if your date is close. Last-minute décor is sometimes possible, so just ask.
Visiting from out of town? You don't need to know Charlotte. I'll help you choose the spot, the time and the story for getting your partner there.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you propose at Romare Bearden Park in Charlotte?
Yes. Romare Bearden Park is a public park in Uptown Charlotte and a popular spot for proposals. The waterfall wall and city skyline make it one of the most photogenic places in the city.
What is the best time of day for a proposal at Romare Bearden Park?
Mornings are my favorite. The park is quieter, and the light on the waterfall and the Uptown skyline is bright and clean. Golden hour is beautiful too, but expect more people around.
How far in advance should I book a Charlotte proposal photographer?
The earlier the better, especially if you want décor like marquee letters. That said, I can sometimes make last-minute proposals happen, décor included, so reach out even if your date is coming up soon.
Do you help plan the proposal, or just photograph it?
Both. I can photograph a proposal you've planned yourself, or help with the location, timing and décor setup so all you have to do is show up with the ring.
